If I listen around me I do hear success like this:
- having a successful job which pays a lot - no matter if it is enjoyable or not
- being the best - no matter what it takes to ourselves or the others
- having a great family - no matter if we don't have the time to spend together cause we are working so much
- having a beautiful/powerful branded car - no matter how long we stay stuck in traffic jams
- being healthy, we would not want to lose any time by staying in bed
- having a lot of money so it pays us flights to the other end of the world to a beach that we'll look from the swimming pool
- having successful kids, that go to great schools, are causing no problems and soon to get married with someone with a really good situation
- being good at sports
- having numerous and cool hobbies
I mean, we all know that it is not true for most of us. But do we not all live a bit like this anyway?
However, should we not consider success as:
- having a happily family, that we love and spend time with
- having an interesting job for to which we are to go to in the morning
- be as good as we can, even if we are not number one
- having a mode of transport fast and respectful of the nature
- being able to stay in bed 1 day to get over a cold and be efficient the next day and show the others can too
- going on holidays with the family to somewhere we can be happy together, even if it is nearby swimming pool
- having enough money to sustain us and our family decently
- Doing sport because it is fun and makes us feel better - whatever the results
- having hobbies that we like, even if it is gardening or walking in the forest
